National Coast Guard

Inspector Vishal Cassy who has served the Mauritius Police Force for 25 years and is actually posted at the National Coast Guard Headquarters, recently completed a one-year course at the United States of America Naval War College (NWC).

Congratulating Inspector Cassy, Lieutenant Commander Matthew Kohlmann, Office of Security Cooperation Chief at the U.S. Embassy for Mauritius and Seychelles, comments:

Professional and educational exchanges are central components of our strong security partnership with Mauritius, which is focused on strengthening coastal and maritime security capabilities. Long- term professional military education programs, like the one Inspector Cassy just completed, help to develop good decision makers and strategists within the security realm

Working with U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), the U.S. State Department’s International Military Education and Training (IMET) program selects current and future military and civilian leaders from international partners and provides a full scholarship and living expenses to attend U.S. military professional training programs.

Inspector Vishal Cassy expresses deep gratitude towards the Governments of Mauritius and the USA as well as his superiors at having been selected for this highlevel military course. “This course has enhanced my knowledge on naval planning and decision making and has helped to develop my self-confidence,” he states, highlighting that the holistic courses also included Land and Air security strategies.
